Guided Meditation

The world you wish for

We spend most of our lives being sensible. We take the world as we're told it is — its limits, its trade-offs, the long list of reasons things can't really change — and, almost without noticing, we trim our hopes down to fit inside it.

This is a short meditation for setting all of that down. For six minutes or so, you're invited to imagine as though none of those limits were binding: to walk through a door into the world exactly as you'd wish it to be, and to notice how it feels to stand there. Not the world you think you're allowed to want — the one you'd choose if anything at all were possible.

What would you dare to hope for, if you knew there were no limits?

Before you begin

  1. Find somewhere quiet where you won't be interrupted for ten minutes or so.
  2. Sit or lie down, somewhere comfortable. Headphones make it easier to sink in, but they're not essential.
  3. There's nothing to get right. Let my voice lead, and let whatever comes, come — even if it surprises you.

Press play when you're ready

The recording runs about six minutes, in my own voice. Woven quietly underneath it are two tones: a 528 Hz frequency often associated with the heart, and a 7.83 Hz pulse — the Schumann resonance, the faint electromagnetic heartbeat of the Earth itself.

Ordering the paperback from the EU?

Sadly I can't currently post paperbacks to the EU. New customs rules mean a book sent from the UK arrives with import charges almost as large as the price of the book, and I don't want that landing on your doorstep.

For now, the paperback is on Amazon across the EU. Amazon shows any import taxes and charges at checkout, so you'll see the full cost before ordering. Pick your country's store:

No store for your country? Most of these deliver across the EU. The eBook and audiobook aren't affected, so you can still buy those here.
